Joyce Udelhofen

Joyce A. Udelhofen, age 85, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on February 22, 1931, in Bellevue, IA, the daughter of William C. and Catherine (Silverding) Yeager. On February 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to Wilford Ryan at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue, IA, and spent 18 wonderful years with "Bill" until his death on May 29, 1972. On April 26, 1980, Joyce was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Udelhofen at St. Clement Catholic Church. Joyce was employed at the former Cuba City Hospital for several years, and then worked for over 27 years in medical records at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for 27 years, and volunteered her time to many church functions. Joyce was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary No. 2344 where she held the office of secretary/treasurer. Joyce also volunteered her time at the Grant County Thrift Shop, the Holiday Project, and the Food Pantry.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; three sons: Stan Ryan, Madison; Steven (Jodi) Ryan, Waunakee; Joe (Andrea) Ryan, Lancaster; two daughters: Jane Burns, Hunting Beach, CA.; Cathy (Charles) Gibson, Oshkosh; a step-son, Michael (Nancy) Udelhofen, Prairie Du Sac; her grandchildren: Sara (Nate) Roloff, Kelli (Eric) Gross, Jenna (Julian) Edwards, Jay (Carrisa) Ryan, Alyssa and Alex Gibson, Ryan Burns, Christopher and Matthew Gibson, Andy Ryan, Marc (Anna) Udelhofen and Carly (Brandon) Zick; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Wilford, Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings: Dorothy (Greg) Roling; Luella (Victor) Kueter; Delores (Alfred) Ploeger; William A. Yeager.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, December 12, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse and Msgr. Tom Baxter officiating. Private family burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Dubuque, IA. Family and friends called on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.

Beatrice Udelhoven

Beatrice C. Udelhoven, age 88, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Beatrice was born October 8, 1924 in Dickeyville, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Sophie (Ginter) Schroeder. On January 8, 1955 she married Leonard J. Udelhoven and together they raised their four sons. Beatrice was active in St. Marys Catholic Church, St Marys Alter Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Bea served in many Local, County and District capacities in the American Legion Auxiliary, including holding the Office of Treasurer for over 40 years. Bea loved cards and was always ready to play a hand of Euchre or a game of Cribbage.

She is survived by her four sons, (As Bea would say all good boys) Joseph (Rita) Udelhoven, Platteville, Thomas (Susan) Udelhoven, Eagan, MN, Jeffrey (Jayne) Udelhoven, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Steven (Terri) Udelhoven, Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Wade (Destinee), Trent, Connor, Margo, Elizabeth, Jessica, and Erica; and one great grandchild, Maxfield.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; a granddaughter, Emily; her brothers and sisters, William Schroeder, Margaret Schroeder, Leona (Leo) Dolter, Carl (Betty) Schroeder, Ralph (Marie) Schroeder, Edmund Schroeder, Hildegarde Schroeder, Mary (John) McEnery, and Mary Margaret Schroeder

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 am Saturday, February 2, 2012, at Saint Marys Catholic Church, Platteville, with Fr. Faustino Ruiz officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends called from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home, 100 Park Place, Platteville, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Carol Udelhoven

Carol J. Udelhoven, age 84, of Mineral Point, formerly of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016, at Upland Hills Health Center in Dodgeville. She was born on September 30, 1931, in New Orleans, LA, the daughter of Charles J. and Cecile V. (Weaver) Schwarz. It was there that she met Donald R. Udelhoven who was a PFC stationed stateside in New Orleans. On October 10, 1955, Carol and Don were united in marriage. After their marriage, the couple moved to Beetown Township where they farmed the Udelhoven family farm. Carol enjoyed southern cooking, golfing, square dancing, playing cards and spending time with family. She was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children: Karen (Brad) Wells, Mineral Point; Greg (Beth) Udelhoven, Plymouth, MN; Aaron (Heidi) Udelhoven, Brooklyn, WI; nine grandchildren: Makenzie Wells; Rachael and Audra Zimmer; Ryan, Eric, and Carly Udelhoven; Tavna, Dru, and Raelyn Udelhoven; a son-in-law, Michael Zimmer; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; a daughter, Carolyn Zimmer; and her sisters: Myrtle Amato, Laura Cortez; Esther Triche.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Carol J. Udelhoven Memorial Fund has been established.

Donald Udelhoven

Donald R. Udelhoven, age 77, of Bloomington , died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster . He was born on January 26, 1933 in Hurricane, the son of Ray and Lila ( Duncan ) Udelhoven. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1951 and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Farm and Industry Short Course. Don enlisted in the U. S. Army from 1954 56 and was a PFC stationed stateside in New Orleans , LA. It was there he met and married Carol J. Schwarz on October 10, 1955. Together they have farmed on the Udelhoven family farm in Beetown Township . He was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church and the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post #148 of Bloomington .

Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol, of Bloomington; a daughter Karen (Brad) Wells, Mineral Point; two sons: Greg (Beth), Plymouth, MN and Aaron (Heidi), Brooklyn, WI; six grandchildren: Makenzie Wells, Rachael Zimmer, Audra Zimmer, Ryan Udelhoven, Eric Udelhoven and Carly Udelhoven; a son-in-law, Michael Zimmer, Appleton; a brother, Darrell Udelhoven, Bloomington; a sister, Marilyn (Phil) Bouzek, Prairie du chien; a niece, Lisa (Brent) Hutson, Onalaska; and a great-niece, Devan Hutson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Carolyn Zimmer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bloomington United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with Military Honors was held at the Dodge Cemetery , Beetown Township. Friends called on Monday, July 5, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of plants and flowers, a Donald R. Udelhoven Memorial Fund has been established.

Merlin Udelhoven

Merlin J. Cap Udelhoven, age 88, of Potosi, died on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born on September 2, 1922, in Potosi, the son of John and Susan (Langkamp) Udelhoven. On February 16, 1942, Merlin was united in marriage to Jenny June Reed at St. Clement Rectory in Lancaster. He entered the United States Navy in 1945 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. Merlin farmed the family farm for several years. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his children: Cheryl Patcle, Potosi; Lynette (Terry) Stoney, Cassville; John Udelhoven, Boice Creek; Kevin (Peggy) Udelhoven, Lancaster; sixteen grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Merlin was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny June, grandchildren, Zachary and Annette; his sisters and brother: Esther Gotzinger, Laura Pennekamp and Herman Udelhoven.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends calledl on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is assisted the family.

Richard A. Umhoefer

Richard A. Dick Umhoefer, Jr., age 74, of Bagley, formerly of Menomonee Falls, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at his residence. He was born on August 9, 1937, the son of Richard A. and Irene (Schwister) Umhoefer, Sr. On July 6, 1968, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Breese at St. Clement Catholic Church. Dick worked as self employed truck driver for many years working with Skyline Homes in Lancaster. He served in the US Military during the Korean Conflict. Dick enjoyed fishing, gardening, driving his tractor and being surrounded by his good friends. Dick was loved by all.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Kathryn; his son, Jeff (Debbie) Umhoefer and granddaughters, Lindsey and Jamie; his mother, Irene; brothers and sisters: Joni (Arleigh) Dashner, Erv, Donna Lohmann, Janet (Mike) LaGrasse, Kathy Gardner, Tom (Cheryl), sister and brothers-in-law: Laurie Ocepek, Joan Wenzel and Guy Greenwald; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Dick was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Stan, Riann Greenwald, John, Jimmy, and his twin sister, Rita; and brother-in-law, John Lohmann.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial with military honors was in Bagley Cemetery, Bagley. Family and friends called on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at St. Clement Catholic Church.

Judith Underhill

Judith A. Underhill, age 71 of Bagley, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born December 6, 1943, in South Dakota, the daughter of Vernon (Nitzie) Cleveland and Grace (La Vern) Dusso. Judy graduated from Beloit Memorial High School. She was united in marriage to Larry J. Underhill on August 28, 1976, at the United Methodist Church in Rockton, IL. After spending many years vacationing in Bagley, they decided to move there. Larry and Judy owned and operated the Sportsman's Tap Tavern in Bagley. Judy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and bird watching. She dearly loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are her loving children: Vicky (Spike Jackley) Vlach; Tammy Krenzke; Beth (Julian) Walker; Lori Ann (Scott) Sonderguard; Larry (Tanya); and Troy (Sheena) Underhill; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Larry; two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Bagley with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in the Bagley Cemetery. Family and friends called on Sunday, October 18, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Bloomington is assisting the family.

Larry I. Underhill

Larry I. Underhill, age 70, of Bagley, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011, in his home. He was born on January 10, 1941, the son of Irving and Ethel (Prindle) Underhill. Larry graduated from Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960 until 1964 stationed at Shreveport, LA. On August 28, 1976, Larry was united in marriage to Judith Harris in the Methodist Church in Rockton, IL. After their marriage, they resided in Racine, where Larry was employed by Parker Hannafin. After spending many years vacationing in Bagley, they decided to move there. Larry was employed by BiTuma in Marquette, at the same time he fulfilled one of his dreams and purchased the Sportsmans Tap Tavern in Bagley. He enjoyed fishing with his favorite fishing partner, Judy, spending time with his grandchildren and hunting with his sons. Larry looked forward to going to Mas Bakery for biscuits and gravy and Friday nights for happy hour gathering with his friends. He was a good singer and loved the oldies but goodies. Larry also enjoyed metal detecting, snowmobiling, and camping. He was a member of the Liscum Brothers American Legion Post No. 482 of Bagley.

Survived by his loving wife, Judy; sons: Troy (Sheena) Underhill; Larry Lee (Tanya) Underhill; his daughters: Beth Underhill; Vicki Vlach, Tammy Krenzke, Lori Ann (Scott) Sondergaard; his mother, Ethel Underhill; brothers: Dan (Marlene) Underhill and Harry Underhill; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Betty Bell; many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Bagley United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Liscum Brothers American Legion Post No. 482 of Bagley was in the Bagley Cemetery, Bagley. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of the arrangements.

Malinda Upmann

Malinda J. Upmann, age 95, of Platteville, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Gray's Nursing Home in Platteville. She was born on May 22, 1921, in Harrison Township, the daughter of Leo B. and Magdalena (Averkamp) Reuter. On January 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Donald Upmann at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Darlington area until moving to Platteville in 1961. Malinda worked several years as a CNA in area hospitals and nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, gardening and family history. Malinda was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville.

Survivors include her children, Shirley (Ken) Goodman, Browntown, Donnette Rynes, Verona, Bonnie (Jim) Kness, Platteville, Connie (Marc) Pass, Dubuque, IA, Alan (Roxie) Upmann, Edmund; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dottie Johns and Viola Winkler; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.

In addition to her parents, Malinda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; a son-in-law, Roland Henry; two sisters, Mary Koeller and Alberta Hanson; two brothers, Wilbert "Bill" and Harold Reuter; and three brothers-in-law, Duane Hanson, C.C. Winkler, and Mansel Johns.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville with Father Faustino Ruiz officiating. Pauline D. Uppena

Pauline D. Uppena, age 89, of Cassville, died on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. She was born on January 26, 1922, in Lancaster, the daughter of Delbert and Maude (Henkle) Day. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1940. On September 2, 1947, Pauline was united in marriage to John Uppena. She was employed at Badger Ordnance during World War II as a typist, Parker Penn Co. in Fennimore and twenty-nine years as a guide at Stonefield Historic Site in Cassville. Pauline enjoyed traveling, fishing and a good game of euchre. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Pauline loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Sue (Steve) Pluemer, Potosi; David (Gloria) Uppena, Wausau; Doug (Janet) Uppena, Chesterfield, MO; Steve (Julie) Uppena, Dickeyville; Trish (Robert) Huber, Davenport, IA; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Jerry) Frazier, San Antonio, TX; a brother, Lyle Day, Locust Grove, OK; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, John on September 20, 1988; and two brothers, Howard and Arnold Day.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Msgr. Jim Uppena officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Cassville is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Pauline D. Uppena Memorial Fund has been established.

Robert L. Udelhoven

Robert L. Bob Udelhoven, age 89, of Beetown, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born February 26, 1921, in the Hurricane area of South Lancaster Township, the son of Anton Tony and Josephine (Fine) Udelhoven. Bob entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II, stationed in the Mediterranean. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Grant County where he farmed in Beetown Township for many years. In 1950, he married Orpha Moen. To this loving union, one child was born, Tony. She preceded him in death in 1959. In 1963, Bob married Carol Sloniker. She preceded him in death in 1990. In 1994, Bob retired, selling the farm. On September 21, 1996, Bob was united in marriage to Mary (Edge) Wamsley. He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping other people.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Edge) Wamsley-Udelhoven, Bloomington; son, Tony (Ginny) Udelhoven, Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren: Rachel Udelhoven, Apple Valley, MN; Emily (Tim) Ehlinger, Richfield, MN; Adam Udelhoven, Apple Valley, MN; a sister, Emily Werner, Lancaster; many nieces and nephews; Marys children: Donna (Greg) Martin and Diane (John) Vesperman, both of Lancaster; Darlene (Bob) Foster, John (Marie) Wamsley, and Bill (Devon) Wamsley, all of Darlington; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson; and many members of the Moen, Sloniker, Edge and Wamsley families.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Orpha and Carol, and his brothers and sisters: Bessie, Ray, Andy and Pat.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 23, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Thursday, July 22, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Friday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Robert L. Udelhoven memorial fund has been established.

Muriel G. Uridil

Muriel G. Uridil, age 93, of Bagley, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009, after a brief illness at Lakeview Continuing Care Center in Lawton, MI. She was born on May 10, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Mae (Hoffman) Moore, on the family farm in Bagley. On June 5, 1935, Muriel was united in marriage to Louis J. Uridil in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple farmed the family farm until their retirement in 1998. Muriel was a graduate of the Bloomington High School in 1932. She was an active member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church and the Ruth Circle. She also was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. Muriel loved farming and was actively involved until retirement. She enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets and loved her gardens, both vegetables and flowers. She was active in a lot of hobbies and loved to fish. After retiring from the farm, she delivered the area Shopping News for over twenty-five years, which she enjoyed so much. Sometimes she would pack a lunch and stop at a park or would do a little fishing at one of her favorite fishing spots. Muriel also enjoyed taking someone with her to visit with along the way. She enjoyed family gatherings and picnics and taking trips with family and friends.

Survivors include her two sons: Charles (Charlene) Uridil, Paw Paw, MI; Robert (Beth) Uridil, Bagley; four grandchildren: Glenn Uridil and Sara Singleton, Paw Paw, MI; Anne Uridil, Carolina, Puerto Rico; and Tim Uridil, Appleton; two great-grandchildren: Christy and Kimberly Singleton, Paw Paw, MI; a sister: Betty (Burdette) Cathman, Fennimore; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Muriel was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Melvin Moore.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Union Nagle Cemetery, Patch Grove. Friends called on Saturday, January 17, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
